Caesar II Back to Boxed Games Page
Description:
CAESAR II"Under Caesar's seal to every Roman citizen he hath left you all his walks, his private arbors, and new-planted orchards, And to your heirs for ever-common pleasures, to walk abroad and recreate yourselves. Here was a Caesar! When comes such another?"
- Julias Caesar, Act 3, Scene 3
Caesar II takes an award-winning game and gives it brand new life: gorgeous graphics that are a feast for the eyes, a streamlined interface, and expanded 3-D Roman city-building. If you're into simulations, Caesar II's got the best of it . . . and more. Because this sim has a real game to it.
|
Build a City . . .Start with provinces in the early days of the Roman empire and develop your capital city. The architecture of the ancient world comes to life on your screen as you build dozens of structures, all beautifully rendered in 3-D SVGA graphics. If you choose to play in City mode, you can concentrate on the economic development of one city for as long as you like. Your plebes can frolic in the Roman baths while you keep an eye out for fire, plague, crime and the occasional riot.Or, if you're ready for a real challenge, you can turn on the adrenaline and master your unruly province. Defend it with fortifications, exploit its resources, establish trade routes, raise armies, and listen up to the demands of your Emperor in Rome. If you please him well, you might just get promoted.
. . . Build an Empire!Once promoted, you can march into another province and take on its unique economy and local population. As you move up the ranks toward your Imperial goal, subduing provinces and building eternal cities, you'll confront raiding Huns, invading Carthaginians (with elephants!) and upstart Gauls. Keep the barbarians out, your cities thriving, and your hippodromes rocking: For a future Emperor, it's all in a day's work!

Caesar III Back to Boxed Games Page
Description:
Ceasar III for Macintosh
From the makers of the award-winning Caesar II comes the ultimate city simulation, combining the strategy of building, maintaining and defending a thriving Roman city with the gameplay elements that make long-term playing fun. Far above and beyond the typical city simulation game, Caesar III offers multiple objectives in a richer, truer environment. Includes richer graphics, new terrain sets, more progressive career structures, an intuitive interface, one-level gameplay and visual feedback: the effects of the player's actions are immediately visible on-screen. Caesar III is sure to engross not only long-time Caesar fans, but those new to city building!
When you arrive at the province that your Emperor has assigned, you draw upon your knowledge (with a little help from your advisors) to create a safe, pleasant city that will attract immigrants. Rome's Senate gives you enough money to build the structures you'll need to feed, house, protect and employ these pioneers. As your city grows and evolves, citizens come to expect entertainment, health care, religion and other comforts and luxuries. While your people continually want more out of life, your starting money dwindles, and your city must start to pay its own way. Citizens build more lavish housing, improving your tax base, and valuable trade routes absorb the surplus from your city's industries.
Life is unpredictable, and various obstacles challenge your ability to meet everyone's wants and needs. Keep Caesar's expectations in mind, as well as those of your citizens. Your career as a governor depends on pleasing the Emperor, whose desires are quite clear. Caesar is a kind and wise ruler. He expects very little of you in your early assignments. When you meet the objectives he has defined for your province, Caesar will offer you promotion to a tougher, more important assignment. Ultimately, you could become Emperor of Rome.
Roman governors prefer not to embark on a full career, and Caesar graciously offers the Class of Caesar III the option to govern independently, without regard for the Emperor or his opinions, setting your own goals.
Whichever path you take, the Roman Empire is expanding...

Colonization Back to Boxed Games Page
Description:
Inspired by the acclaimed Sid Meier's Civilization, Colonization focuses on a single era in history from 1500 to 1800-the discovery, exploration and colonization of the New World.
Players control either English, French, Dutch or Spanish colonists in the New World. This New World can be the historically accurate Americas (North and South) or a randomly generated world with varying resources and challenges. Overseeing economic, military and political growth, gamers strive to establish independence from the mother country while competing with other colonies for control of the New World.
Players must learn to deal with the native population, then with foreign powers, and ultimately with their own king and country. When playing Colonization, you must consider not only economic, political and military power, but also people power. In order to achieve independence, you must decide how you will treat the native population in the New World. Will you make friends with them, avoid them, wage war on them or trade with them? Your actions determine how the game will develop.
Both Colonization and Civilization have the same addictive game play, continual growth and similar interfaces-but they are very different games. Players of Colonization will find a lot that is familiar-and therefore easy to learn-plus new and exciting challenges. In Colonization, gamers can assign colonists to any of 20 different professions including farming, fur trading, weaving, mining, soldiering and so on. With Training colonists can achieve mastery of their chosen skills, which increases their efficiency. This diversity and efficiency help make each colony productive and self-sufficient.
