All three boards feature 3 playing fields each (each with 2 flippers), and when you get balls in each one (during a multi-ball session), it can get really hairy! With a SCI-FI, synth-tech soundtrack rockin' in the background, sound effects abounding, and very smooth and life-like pinball animation, 3-D has forged ahead of past computer pinball games.
The on-line manual is truly amazing. It gives you all the information you need regarding the story-line/objective (yes there is one). It also offers complete skill shot tips and strategic hints on how to earn bonus points, extra balls, and hit all the game's key targets. It would be a good idea (after your initial play-time of 3-D, to read the manual in order to find out what you're trying to accomplish.
The overall goal is to make it through all 3 "levels" or boards and launch a starship. This is a task that will not come easily...even with 5 balls. Like playing any new pinball machine for the first time, you start by having no idea how fast the bumpers will ricochet your ball, how the flippers will react to your reactions, or how much nudging it takes to tilt the machine. There are times when 3 balls are out at once (multi-ball session). Add that confusion with 3 sets of flippers and you've got one addictive game!
You have the opportunity (sometimes requiring a skill with you against the clock) to earn extra balls, earn "continuations" (continue a game with 5 more balls but zero score), get 10 million points, or get other items relavent to the object of the game. There is an "invincability" mode earned after a certain point. This mode fills in the seemingly GIGANTIC GAP between the 2 main flippers for a brief period of time.

4 x 4 Evolution Back to Software Page
Description:
Terminal Reality proudly presents 4x4
Evolution, an arcade-style, 4x4 off-road simulation for the Mac. 4x4 Evolution puts virtual drivers behind the wheel of
their favorite real world SUV and/or truck and challenges them to race
through a variety of detailed off-road environments. 4x4 Evolution
supports Internet multi-player options between Sega Dreamcast, Mac and PC.
4x4 Evolution takes gamers for a rough off-road ride through a total of 15
courses, each with its own distinctive design, music score and difficulty
level. In addition to contending with the other vehicles, players will be
challenged by a variety of variables such as gates, trees, and tractors in
junkyards or on-coming traffic in construction zones. Virtual drivers
choose their own path as they begin with a base truck and compete in a
series of off-road races to win cash. Drivers can stop and rewind the
action through a playback feature and can view the whole race again from
multiple camera angles, and even different racers' perspectives. Players
can also use GameSpy's Buddy system for instant messaging and keeping
track of their fellow drivers.
Here are a few reasons to play 4x4 Evolution:
Offroad Action
Taking the term “off road” to the extreme, gamers can drive anywhere
within each of the 15 gorgeous vast areas which replicate zones from
painted deserts to treacherous mountaintops to tropical island chains. A
race course consists of checkpoints strewn along the countryside. Drivers
choose their own paths while negotiating whatever terrain lies between
Point A and Point B.
Cross-Platform Multiplayer
4x4 Evolution is the first game EVER that allows Dreamcast, PC, and Mac
users to compete against each other in heated online play. The PC and Mac
version will support up to eight players over the Internet or a LAN, while
up to four Sega Dreamcast players can compete. In addition, two gamers can
race split-screen on the Sega Dreamcast, and can also go online in
split-screen online mode. Terminal Reality will offer a free downloadable
track editor that allows PC gamers to create their own tracks. Gamers on
all three platforms will be able to easily download and play custom-built
online only "Lite" levels, and use the Chat System to converse
with other drivers. In "Time Trial" mode, players on all
platforms can download the best lap that another driver has submitted,
then race against the image of that person's truck, which shows exactly
how that person drove to achieve such a great lap time.
Real Vehicles
4x4 Evolution's 70+ licensed vehicles are incredibly detailed and
accurate versions of their real-life counterparts. From tailgate to brush
guard, each 4x4 in the game looks and drives exactly like it does on (and
off!) the road. A truck's personality and performance is subject to its
owner's whims as well. Drivers buy their truck at the showroom, but
competition purses and hidden treasures stashed in the outback will
provide drivers with the funds they need to buy upgrade parts and
equipment such as heavy-duty off-road suspension, brush guards,
performance exhaust, and special off-road racing tires. And if a 4x4 just
isn't performing to its driver's standards, it can always be taken to
the garage for some in-depth tweaking.
Serious Competition
The competition in 4x4 Evolution doesn't cheat--it doesn't have to.
Instead of adhering to preset racelines, the game's expert AI drivers
navigate the courses just like the gamers, from checkpoint to checkpoint,
only faster and smarter. These ruthless drivers can analyze and react to
any driving situation and will take every opportunity to slam gamers off
course to ensure them of one less contender for the trophy.
Insane Graphics
4x4 Evolution's visuals scream with realism, with shadows reflecting the
time of day (four from which to choose), three different weather
conditions, highlights glinting from polished chrome and fresh showroom
paint, and the sun dazzling and blinding drivers as it peeks through
looming crests. Splats of debris and mud erupt through thick clouds of
road dust, and amazing wakes and rooster tails disturb the glassy surface
as trucks crash through rivers and streams.
Real World Physics
Each of the courses is thickly populated with objects and obstacles, some
that move under their own power, and some that require a nudge. Terminal
Reality's real-time, real-world physics modeler was used for everything
from the farm fences drivers blow through to the powerful express
locomotives that stop for no one. Trucks feature super-accurate
suspensions that dip and react to every mogul and sinkhole. Drivers will
find themselves leaning to anticipate hard turns and steering for all
they're worth as they rock and jolt along with the unforgiving terrain.

Another War Back to Software Page
Description:
Another War takes place during World War 2 in Nazi-occupied Europe. It is a colorful story of an adventurer, involved in his own private war in those darkest of times. The game has a very elaborate plot, with its own brand of lively action, style and humor. You will find many allusions to classic books and movies, like "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Allo, Allo", "Catch-22", "Saving Private Ryan", and "The Dirty Dozen" amongst others. Wanting to save his friend from the Nazis, our hero gets caught up in a bloody intrigue between the warring superpowers. The plot starts in a small town in occupied France. The only things reminding us that war is raging is the heavy presence of German gendarmerie patrols on the streets and groups of Wehrmacht soldiers on leave occupying the local cafes. However, the finale takes place in the hell of an under siege Leningrad where our hero stumbles upon one of the most secretly guarded projects run by both Soviet and German engineers. Another War's interface is modeled on those of classic cRPG games, mainly on the Baldur's Gate and Fallout series. The game has 2D rendered graphics in an isometric view with pre-rendered characters. The backgrounds include many architectural and natural details in a varied environment. Uniforms, weapons and equipment have also been pictured in detail. Extended battle and character development systems have been implemented. Another War also takes advantage of active lighting, smoke, explosions, flames and atmospheric effects as well as surround sound.
